What is Team Ludo?

Ludo is usually every player for themselves. Team Ludo splits the board into two sides instead: you and a partner against an enemy pair. The dice are the same, but suddenly every move has a teammate to think about.

Quick answer: Team Ludo is a 2v2 variant where you and an AI partner play red and yellow against the green and blue team. Teammates never capture each other. Your team wins when all eight of your team's tokens reach home.

How the teams work

You control red and an AI partner controls yellow, sitting across the board from each other. Green and blue form the enemy team. Turns pass around the board as normal, so play alternates between the two sides. Your partner plays its own turns - your job is to make your moves fit the team plan.

The team rules

  • No friendly fire. Teammates never capture each other - landing on your partner's token is harmless.
  • All eight tokens home. The team wins only when both partners have all four tokens home, eight in total.
  • Everything else is Classic. Six to enter, extra roll on a six, three sixes ends the turn, 8 safe squares, exact roll to finish.

Because your partner's start squares are harmless to you, the board effectively has more shelter than in Classic Ludo.

Team strategy tips

  1. If your partner is far ahead, focus on capturing and slowing the enemy - a team only finishes as fast as its slower member.
  2. Park tokens where they threaten squares the enemy needs to pass.
  3. Do not rush your last token home while your partner struggles; a token on the track can still defend.

Why it feels different

Team Ludo rewards patience more than any other mode here. A selfish sprint helps nothing if your partner gets farmed for captures. Games run longer too, since sixteen tokens are in play and eight must finish. If you enjoy the longer arc, it is one of the most satisfying wins on the site - try a solo warm-up on the Classic board first if you are new.

What is Classic Ludo?

Classic Ludo is the traditional version of the game, played on a cross-shaped board with a 52-square track. Each player races four tokens from their yard, around the board and up their home column. It is the version you can play free on the Ludo.now homepage.

How does capturing work in Ludo?

You capture in Ludo by landing your token, by exact count, on a square that holds a single enemy token. The captured token returns to its owner's yard and must start over. Captures cannot happen on safe squares or inside home columns.

How do you win Ludo?

You win Classic Ludo by being the first player to bring all four of your tokens onto the home triangle. Each token needs an exact roll for its final step. Smart token choices get you there faster.
